Pre-eclipse. The full sun, moments before the Great American Eclipse of 2017 was set to begin.
Just a warm-up for the total eclipse. Sunspots are visible on the surface.
The temperature dropped, the cicadas and crickets started chirping and daylight plunged into darkness. Even some stars became visible (there is a star or planet just to the left of the frame).
My attempt at shooting the diamond ring. I wasn't able to adjust exposure fast enough to capture, but I'm still happy with the shot.
