This great egret has a bright green lore around his eyes signifying that it's breeding season. Taken at Magee Marsh near Oak Harbor, OH near the shore of Lake Erie.

Eclipse Totality

The temperature dropped, the cicadas and crickets started chirping and daylight plunged into darkness. Even some stars became visible (there is a star or planet just to the left of the frame).

Camp Sportsman Lake

This was our second night of camping while traveling the Sportsman Lake Trail through the Gallatin Mountains in Yellowstone. Our campsite was next to Sportsman Lake and our headlamp lit it up like a light bulb. We had a clear, crisp and amazingly beautiful night. The silhouette of the ridge around Sportsman Lake really made you feel small, especially at night with the Milky Way shining so brightly overhead. I didn't have a tripod with me and took some practice shots with a timer delay while resting the camera in different positions on a rock. I was so excited when I saw this one and think it's the best shot I've ever taken.

Wintering Geese

Canadian Geese flying over the partially frozen Maumee River, near Waterville, OH. The light was just starting to become pleasing as this flock of Canadians flew over in their distinctive V-formation. Dirty birds, but very majestic when caught in flight like this.

Keyhole Sun

The view from inside Tower Arch, looking West. We made it inside just as the last sliver of sunlight was able to slip between the rocks to make it inside, where I was standing. I imagine it is not often that the sun and rocks align in this manner and think Bri and I witnessed something special that afternoon! Notice Bri in the bottom of the frame for a sense of scale.

San Juan Mountains

Looking East to North East on the way up towards Black Bear Pass. There was a storm starting to form North of us with the occasional lightning bolt in the distance. Didn't wait around for it to get closer and started heading further up towards the pass to Telluride before any of the bad weather got closer.

Colorado Sky

This is a valley at around 10,000 feet of elevation east of Cinnamon Pass. There was rain off to the west that produced an amazing sunset. You can see what I believe to be Wood Mountain, Seigal Mountain and Cinnamon Mountains in the distance.

Rutting Elk

A massive bull elk standing within a herd of cows inside Rocky Mountain National Park. You can see his breath in the cool air, up around 10,000 feet as the sun started to set.
